Waterfall Birthday Card with Cupcakes

After a few days away with my husband's family I'm home again... boy, did I miss my craft room!  My middle child had another birthday party to attend for a BFF in her class, and here's the card I made for the 10 year old.  I used Mary's Waterfull Cards at SVGcuts.com (I know... no surprise :)

My First Paper Cake!

It's Administration Appreciation Day tomorrow at my daughter's high school and we are sending in "thank yous" to the headmaster, 2nd headmaster, secretary, etc....  I made the paper cake to match their school colors. I filled each "slice" with wrapped candies.

The top has a paper rosette topped with two scalloped circles and then stamped it with "thank you very much".  I put terrifically tacky tape on the back of the rosette to hold it in place on the cake.

I am lucky enough to have a commercial copy of the school's logo because I'm the yearbook advisor, so I printed them, punched them out with my circle punch and put one on the end of each slice.  The trouble was finding a large enough "plate" for the "cake".  I ended up using the top of a hat box.  Finally, I tied red ribbon around all the slices to hold them in place.

Cake Box or Carrot Box Easter Treat holder

I know I'm not the only mommy out there making cute little carrot treat boxes for her preschooler's class :)  I just wanted to give my take on it!  I used the cakebox from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge at 5.5inches.  I wanted to give it some texture and I found the PERFECT fiskars texture plate in my stash!!!- the "carpet" plate.  It was kind of difficult placing the box cut-out on the plate so that most all of it was covered... but there's only a tiny piece that didn't get embossed and it's not very noticeable.  The fiskars plates are bigger than the original cuttlebug folders which is nice.  Again, I used the Spellbinders latex mats in my cuttlebug. If you want the sandwich recipe I used with the fiskars plates- click here for the post where I used them.
Here is a close-up of the "carpet" texure on my carrot box.

Then I used my crop-a-dile to insert an eyelet in the top of the box.

I had curled a bunch of ribbon (click here if you would like to know how I did that) and I had this green left over from my bow making.  In the future I think I will just use regular paper curling ribbon.  I cut a few pieces and pulled them through the top of the box and knotted them underneath so they wouldn't pull out.  Finally, fill the open box with some Easter candy and then I used my ATG gun to close it up.

Tada!  A cute little carrot box filled with Easter candy for the kiddiewinkies!! :)  The finished box measure 3.5 inches from bottom of carrot to top.

Cupcake Birthday Card

I treated myself to a little shopping at Joann Fabrics today!  I picked up the DCWV Celebration stack.  My youngest daughter has a friend's birthday to attend and I needed to make a card. So, once again, I used a file from SVGcuts.com's 3D birthday card kit.  The file includes a layered cupcake that I manipulated a bit in SCAL to get the pieces I wanted to use.  I knew I wanted to have the "frosting" white and a seperate piece of paper from the original sihlouette of a cupcake.  I covered the frosting piece in Glossy Accents and carefully sprinkled tiny multi-colored glass beads on it to make it appear to be cupcake sprinkles.  I'm happy with the result. :)  You can't see it in the photos, but the background cupcake paper has pretty blue foiled cupcake liners and the card "sparkles" in person.

Sympathy cards using cherry blossoms

4.25 x 5.5 card

5x7 card
Unfortunately, I've had to make 2 sympathy cards in 2 days :(  But, thankfully, Mary over at SVGcuts.com has the perfect freebie this week for such a card.  I also used two different freebie frames they have available on that site, too.  Another rainy day here, so I'm off to take the teens to the mall.  Wish me luck!

Rolled Roses or flowers, Spiral SVG

It's a rainy morning so what better way to spend it than in my craft room!  I came upon this website: Paper and Flowers  where a gifted crafter is selling a "rolled roses" svg for $.99.  Well worth the dollar- I tried to make one myself in Inkscape and failed miserably.  I have spent the morning cutting, gluing and glitter spritzing the roses you see here.  My 14 year old is just nuts about decorating stuff- anything- with my paper flowers that I BUY, not make.  She's gone through an entire large tube of them in a month.  So, I felt really good about using my scrap paper to make all these roses this morning!  Now, I'm off to do laundry :(- not so fun!

FREE SVG: Banner template and Spring Banner craft

I'm so in the mood for spring but it's still pretty darn  COLD!  Soccer games start today and we are going to need to bring lots of coffee and hot chocolate to stay warm. But, I'm trying to stay upbeat by creating a spring craft- a banner for my mantle. The pics I have show it on the wall.  The paper is from DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies... can't get any more spring than that!!

I created this Banner template in SCAL2 and you are free to download it!
