Centerpoint Function problem and a football b-day card

I began putting together a birthday card for a little boy in my daughter's 4th grade class.  Genevieve says he wants a football for his birthday, so hence the football card.  All was going smoothly UNTIL I tried to use the centerpoint function on the penant!  I printed the sentiment on the cardstock using my printer, then placed the paper on my cricut mat, picked the penant from the cartridge (Everyday Paper Dolls), pushed "real dial size" and "centerpoint".  I tried multiple times unloading and reloading, turning the machine on and off, etc., but for no reason I can figure, the cricut kept cutting the penant on another area of the paper!!  ARGH!  I got so irritated, that I finally gave up and just cut out the sentiment and glued it on top of the penant.  Looks tacky to me, but I had no choice.  Has anyone ever had any issues like this before??  Please share!

First off I think your card looks fantastic. Not tacky at all! Just found your blog and I love it. Such nice work. Yes, I have had the center point issue before. I can send you an email and explain how to fix it. Shoot me an email at sar342@aol.com and I will send you instructions. Glad I found you..I will be visiting often:)

Hi Justine, thanks for joining us over at Serenity Scrappers. I clicked on your name and thought I would come over and take a look! I love this card, super cute. I am a football fan and I don't think the penant is tacky at all.
